Comments: According to tradition, this is the first Buddhist temple in China, "the cradle of Chinese Buddhism". It commemorates the succe-
ssful return from the West (Indo-Scythia) of the Emperor's emissaries, who used two white horses to carry the Sutra of Forty-two Chapters.
